WHAT
We believe that real growth happens over time. That's why we've created an opportunity for students to build relationships with artists and peers over the course of a school year. We are introducing three cohorts– small groups of dedicated, emerging student artists–that will meet twice monthly to learn, practice, and share. Each group is distinct. Students apply for ONE of the following cohorts:
WORDS - writing with a focus on daily writing practices, poetry, short stories, and publishing.
SOUNDS - music and audio engineering, signal flow equipment setup, tools and terminology, and studio etiquette.
VISUALS - fine art with a focus on drawing techniques, color theory, and portfolio development.
WHEN
October through May - Students meet from 10AM to 3PM one Saturday a month for in-person learning and once virtually for 1:1 or small group mentorship. Additionally, students will work independently to develop personal art practices. Students in the cohorts will dedicate about 8-10 hours a month to in-person, virtual, and self-led learning.
WHO
Our cohorts are designed for student artists who are serious about growing their skills. Students should be able to commit to all meeting days and be open to constructive feedback. Additionally, we understand that student time is valuable so students who participate in 80% of program are eligible for $500 upon completion to compensate their time and effort.
HOW
Students who are interested in the cohort program must apply by midnight on Tuesday, October 3rd. Expect to write and upload examples of your work. Finalists will be invited to an interview. Students accepted into the cohort can plan to have their first in-person meeting on Saturday, October 28th.
