Overview

Are you curious about tattooing but don’t know where to begin?  In this three-week workshop, you’ll meet a diverse panel of working artists who will introduce you to designing “flash” and custom pieces. You’ll learn about ink application, linework, shading, and will familiarize yourself with the language, techniques and materials of the tattoo trade. Facilitated by Virginia Marting @ virginiamarting.tattoos, of Skeleton Key Tattoo, weekly topics and guest artists will include: The Basics of Flash Design: Shading + Color with Kimber Fowler @boiled_peanut_; Designing Custom Tattoos: Creating for Clients with Katrina Zarate @katrinazarate + Ximana Quiroz @holycrapcats; and Tools of the Trade with Toby Linwood @tobylinwood + Matt Read @mjarpdx.   • VIRGINIA MARTING

    VIRGINIA MARTING (she/her) is a tattoo artist, printmaker, and puppeteer who was born in Rosario, Argentina and moved to Portland in 2007. She learned the art of tattooing while living in Basque County, Spain and has been working professionally in the United States since 2014. Virginia’s work is mainly representational or figurative, inspired by nature and our relationship with it. She creates to battle daily injustices and bring about social awareness through art. As an immigrant, she stands with her community for the right to live and create in the place that we decide to call home.
