Workshop: Intro to Design Thinking & Careers with Mark Smith
This workshop is for students enrolled in CTE Design & Applied Arts Intermediate and Advanced level courses including Visual/Studio Arts, Ceramics, Sculpture, Digital Media, and Production Design who are beginning to think about college and career options in the worlds of art and design. Through weekly meetings, individual and group assignments, and visits from special guests working in creative fields, you’ll be exposed to the vast career opportunities available to visual artists such as graphic, product, fashion, environments and interior design. You’ll receive feedback on your current body of work, learn to move your talent forward, and how to prepare for portfolio development when considering further education and employment opportunities.
Mark Smith has spent 30+ years working with athletes, entertainers, brands, non-profit organizations, and schools focused on innovation product, graphics, and storytelling, at Nike, Jordan Brand, and Hurley, among others. His creative approach bridges his various disciplines as an artist, sculptor, and musician and his professional experience in product and communication design. Humor and wordplay are at the core of his collaboration style.
