Overview

Why are some lyrics more evocative and memorable than others? What does the interplay between lyrics and melody sound like in the very best songs? In this workshop, we’ll unpack the secrets of great lyric writing using techniques like sense-bound writing and writing from multiple perspectives in order to develop a daily writing practice. We’ll also welcome professional songwriters for weekly Q&As about their own stories, techniques, and approaches. Non-musicians are welcome- no songwriting experience is necessary for this workshop. Note: you will be expected to do 10-minute daily writing/journaling assignments Tuesday-Friday and complete end-of-week assignments which are due the following Monday. Assignments are designed with specific goals in mind and the lengths are important.

Meets Tues and Thurs 5-6:30pm | May 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27
