Workshop: The Ultimate Playlist: Music Supervision for Film, TV and Advertising with Chris Funk
Overview
*Offered exclusively to Benson and Franklin High School students, this Virtual Academy connects with Digital Media & Video Production CTE courses and helps fulfill your Work Based Learning requirement. Open to ALL Benson and Franklin students with priority given to those currently enrolled in Digital Media and Video Production CTE classes.
Music is found in almost all of our favorite movies, TV shows, commercials and even video games. How did it get there? Who selects each song and how is music used to back up and enhance a visual cue? In this workshop, we’ll investigate the aesthetic relationship between moving pictures and music and will explore the careers that create that dynamic. Students will assume the role of “music supervisor”, selecting songs and matching them with film clips to create a desired effect. They’ll learn to write the “creative brief” that music supervisors and composers respond to with their musical choices. Along the way, we’ll hear directly from some of the entertainment industry’s top music supervisors, advertising agency producers, and composers via weekly panel conversations and QAs.
