The SANDY BODECKER PROJECT, INC. (“SBP”) was established in 2021 by Sandy Bodecker’s survived partner and interdisciplinary artist Tanya Cerda as a tribute to Sandy Bodecker, Nike’s legendary VP of Special Projects, who passed away in October 2018.
Sandy started out at Nike in the early 1980s as a wear tester and over a 35-year career went on to establish Nike’s leadership in global football, launch Nike SB, and lead Breaking2, the quest to run a sub-2:00 marathon. He was also Nike’s first VP of Global Design.
Sandy lived by the personal ethos of Respect the Past; Embrace the Future. Driven by curiosity, ambition, and resilience, he sought to make positive change in the world at large. Sandy was an accomplished musician, an art collector, and a mentor to emerging artists, musicians, skaters, and designer of all ages. Sandy embodied what it means to be “a creative.” He saw himself first and foremost as a “problem solver” which inspires and informs our mission to amplify the voices, ideas, and creativity of a new generation of problem solvers.
